Text layout and page breaks

Selectable text and spacing

The PDF contains selectable text, not page screenshots. Existing line breaks and spaces are kept; tabs become four spaces and long lines wrap.

Font, size and margins

Text uses one font and size with 0.75-inch margins.

Plain text and page breaks

Plain TXT does not contain heading styles, rich-text lists or table structure: this tool does not invent them. Long records can continue onto the next page.

Support and limits

One UTF-8 TXT file or pasted plain text. The file limit is 1 MB; text is limited to 100,000 characters and output to 200 pages.

English text and supported punctuation use an embedded font. Unsupported characters stop conversion instead of producing missing-glyph boxes. Emoji, Chinese and other untested writing systems are outside this tool’s supported scope.

Our converter

Download the original English TXT sample

Our converter check: the downloadable English TXT produced three US Letter pages at 12 pt. Records 01–65 appeared once in order; extracted text matched the source after ignoring whitespace, including the four punctuation-check lines. All three rendered pages were visually checked. This is one sample, not a guarantee for every file. Download our actual PDF · Download our check record.

The comparison below tests other tools, not this converter; their results must not be read as our tool’s results.

In our three English reruns (ImageToText.cc, PDFonFly and TextToPDF.net), all produced PDFs; only ImageToText.cc retained the tested punctuation and nested-list indentation without splitting a numbered record across pages. The other three rows are earlier multilingual attempts, outside this conclusion.

How we checked punctuation

We checked these four labelled lines under “Punctuation check” on page 1 of each original PDF against the same lines in the original English TXT:

Straight quotes: "Ready to ship" and it's approved.
Smart quotes: “Ready to ship” and it’s approved.
Dashes: Monday-Friday; plan–review; approved—not delayed.
Business symbols: $1,250.50 / 25% / R&D / #42 / (draft) / user@example.com

We rendered each first page with PDFium and visually inspected the four lines. Separately, we extracted page 1 with pypdf and compared each labelled line with the original TXT, ignoring whitespace only. We did not normalize quotes, apostrophes or dashes. This check is separate from the selected-prose copy-to-Notepad test.

ImageToText.cc and PDFonFly matched all four source lines. TextToPDF.net matched the Straight quotes and Business symbols lines, but its Smart quotes line became Smart quotes: "Ready to ship" and it's approved. and its Dashes line became Dashes: Monday-Friday; plan-review; approved--not delayed.

Copy checks, dates and no-file scope

*For each English output, we dragged a passage in SumatraPDF, copied it and pasted it into a blank Notepad document. The selected prose matched the original TXT after ignoring line breaks. These selections did not cover the smart-quote and dash test lines; they are not a whole-document punctuation check.

English report tested 17 October 2026 using each tool's default export settings. The source is plain TXT, so title wording and list indentation are checked, not rich-text heading styles. Different defaults produced different page counts. The three no-file rows are earlier multilingual attempts, separate from this English rerun; no file obtained does not mean a tool is unsupported or unable to convert English.
