Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026
This policy explains what happens to your data when you use pdfmdtools.com. It covers the files you convert, the information the site collects automatically, and the advertising that funds it.
1. The short version
- The local documents you convert are never uploaded. They are read and converted by your own browser.
- The site has no accounts, no sign-up, and no forms. You never give us your name, email address or payment details.
- The document converters do not use cookies or local storage to process your files. Google Analytics uses first-party analytics cookies to measure visits and users.
- Some pages contain clearly labeled affiliate links and image advertisements. The DOCX to PDF page loads an official CJ banner image when opened; other current affiliate recommendations are text links. Clicking an affiliate link takes you to a third party that may use cookies.
2. Your document files
When you drop a PDF onto the converter, the file is read directly by JavaScript running in your browser tab using the PDF.js library. The text is extracted on your device and the Markdown output is generated on your device.
The Documents to Markdown tool processes Office files, books, spreadsheets and other supported files locally using self-hosted conversion libraries. Files and results remain in tab memory until you clear the batch or close the tab. Downloaded Markdown, images and ZIP archives are saved only through your browser's download controls. External images in this tool's preview are not fetched. Conversion libraries may be downloaded from this site when first needed; that transfers the software to you, not your documents to us.
No copy of the file, its contents, its name, or the generated Markdown is transmitted to this site or to any third party. If you close the tab, it is gone. Because nothing is uploaded, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
One consequence of this design is worth stating plainly: we have no way to see, recover, or inspect anything you convert. Support questions about a specific file can only be answered in general terms.
3. Information collected automatically
Like any website, this one is served over the internet, which means the infrastructure in front of it necessarily handles technical request data. Specifically:
- Server and CDN logs. Cloudflare, which hosts and delivers this site, processes standard request information — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent, referrer. This is used to serve pages, block abuse, and keep the site online.
- Aggregate traffic statistics. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which reports aggregate page views, referrers and performance timings. Cloudflare states that its Web Analytics does not use any client-side state such as cookies or local storage to collect usage metrics, and that it does not collect or use personal data to build visitor profiles.
Google Analytics 4. We use Google Analytics to measure visits and users across the site. Google receives page-view and usage information, first-party cookie identifiers, device/browser information and the technical request data needed to receive those measurements. We send the public page path without its query string or fragment and reduce referrers to their origin. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in our tag configuration. Automatic enhanced measurement is disabled for this data stream; we do not send converter inputs, selected filenames, document contents or conversion results as analytics events. The analytics script is downloaded from Google, separately from our self-hosted conversion libraries.
We do not use session recording or heat-mapping tools. Affiliate images and links are described in section 4.
4. Cookies, affiliate links and image advertisements
This site is free to use. Some guides include clearly labeled links to relevant products. If you click one of these affiliate links and make a purchase, we may earn a commission. Affiliate links do not affect the converter or require you to create an account here.
Our affiliate recommendations use CJ and MaxBounty tracking links. The DOCX to PDF page also displays an official PDFelement image advertisement supplied through CJ. Its image request goes to www.ftjcfx.com and redirects to CJ's image delivery domain, www.yceml.net. Those services receive the request data needed to deliver and measure the banner, such as your IP address, user agent and any referrer sent by your browser. Loading the image is a third-party request even if you do not click it. We do not add an affiliate JavaScript tracking tag or a separate impression pixel for this banner.
If you click an affiliate link or banner, your browser contacts the relevant network and then the advertiser; they may process the click and use cookies or similar technologies under their own privacy policies. We receive aggregate referral and commission reporting, not your document content. The banner does not receive your selected document, its filename or conversion result. Existing text-only recommendations on other pages do not load affiliate images or scripts just because you open the page.
5. Links to other sites
Some pages link to external resources, for example the PDF.js project. Once you follow a link off this site, that site's own privacy policy applies and this one no longer does. We have no control over what those sites collect.
6. Children
This site is a document conversion tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and there is no mechanism on the site through which a child could submit personal information to us.
7. Your choices
- Do not want analytics cookies? Your browser cookie settings and content controls can restrict Google Analytics. Blocking analytics does not stop local document conversion.
- Do not want to follow affiliate tracking links? Do not click affiliate links or banners. The converter will keep working. Not clicking does not prevent the DOCX to PDF banner image request; your browser's content controls can block third-party image requests.
- Do not want the file to leave your device? Local conversion does not upload it. A first conversion or ZIP download may need an internet connection to load the self-hosted software; document contents are not part of those requests.
- Questions about data held by an affiliate network or advertiser? Those requests have to go to that service, since we never receive the data. We are happy to point you at the right contact if you email us.
8. Changes to this policy
If the way this site handles data changes — for example if a new advertising partner with different practices is added — this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
9. Contact
Questions, corrections, or complaints about privacy on this site can go to contact@pdfmdtools.com. That address is read by the person who runs the site.
